After earning a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of Texas in Austin, Katie began her professional journey as a special education teacher in Austin ISD. Four years later, she relocated to the Houston area and joined Cypress-Fairbanks ISD as an early childhood special educator. While serving in this capacity for eight years, she worked in a variety of classroom settings, honing her expertise in brain-based strategies, differentiated instruction for diverse learners, and collaborative and inclusive practices. In 2021, Katie earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Professional Supervision with administrative certification from the University of Houston. She continues to serve the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD community as a behavior interventionist, specializing in classroom management, best practices in early childhood education, and professional learning for other educators.
